Mercado de San Miguel Madrid
Mercado de San Miguel is an indoor market next to Plaza Mayor. I really like Plaza Mayor, it is an amazing and impressive plaza to see, and I love all the little balconies from the apartments with the plaza view. But I don’t really like all the terraces at Plaza Mayor, there are mostly tourists and the restaurants charge tourist prices as well. But just around the corner of Plaza Mayor you find the really nice Mercado de San Miguel. Of course, located in this area, this is not a cheap place as well, but at least its super cool!
It is not a big market, but anything you can think of in the Spanish kitchen they have there, a stall with jamón, qroquetas, paella, calamares, pimientons de pardon (Spanish green peppers), pinchos, and of course sangria! I’m always amazed by the big beautiful hams they have hanging there (of course there are so many more places in Madrid with the most delicious Jamón serrano, I can’t get enough of that) and the huge tower of cherries put so neat together.
In the middle of the market there are some tables to sit/hang at and eat all the deliciousness you scored in the market. But most of the time you have to fight for a good spot, because there are not many seats.
Meet your friends there for a drink and a little bite, but after a while move on to the next place, because otherwise your wallet is gonna be empty at the end of the night. But definitely don’t miss out on this place!
